• Training update

At last, the wait is over.  For more than a month I have just been taking it easy and running low mileage recovery runs.  It has gone well and was certainly needed.  That being said for the last two weeks or so it has been tough to keep holding back.  Starting this week I will begin to prepare for my fall marathon and Disney Half Marathon.  I will really get moving next week but this week I will run my longest run in over a month.

I am really ready to get started and to get moving again.  I am very excited about the prospect of training for a marathon.  It has been a while since I just trained for the sole purpose of performing and running a marathon alone.  I am very curious to see how my training progresses the next three months.

The schedule will remain fun the whole way with the Blue Ridge Relay, Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon Relay and even a trail race or two mixed in.

I know the key word for me during this training will be patience.  It has been a high mileage year and I asked my body to do many different things so far during the training for several races.  My next goal is to get to the start line of the marathon healthy and ready to give it a good run at a solid time.

    Happy running….

Trey – Congrats and best of luck to you on the start of your next training cycle and your upcoming battle with Lady Marathon. I know this will be your most successful cycle ramping up for 26.2.

Not sure if you decided to go all in for BQ – but I think it is yours for the taking if you want it.

Best to you Trey – go get ‘em.

Thanks Joe! I am all in. Lots of core work this summer and getting ready for this. Lot’s of hard miles as well the next three months. It will be fun to see how I have progressed since I have never pushed the marathon. I plan to get after it and see what happens.

I would rather crash and burn than never have put forth the effort at all.

Amen Trey – seems like a lot of training and a lot of effort, not to mention a tough race day not to leave it all out on the course. Not sure I’ll get my BQ here in Austin in February as many say the course is tough, lots of hills, blah, blah, blah.

I know one thing however – I’m going for it – and I’ll be proud of the effort regardless of the results. It would be something if our first marathon together was Boston 2012 …..

      Best to you Trey!

That right there sounds like a plan Joe! I would just be taking a guess about your BQ but you have gotten so strong that Austin course is going to take a beating from you.
