• A little time on the shelf

Training hard does a lot of things for you.  You become faster, stronger and better fit overall.  It can also provide injuries.  I have had a lot of hard training this year and I might have caught an injury in an early enough stage to be fine.  Sometime in the last week I have done something to my foot.  I have had a good bit of pain right in the middle of my foot.  The more I rest the better it is feeling.  I plan to take the rest of this week off and maybe do some cardio at the gym instead.  I still plan to run Saturday in the relay in Disney.  I am hoping a solid week of no running on it will make the difference and I plan to take it easy on Saturday at the race.

I am not sure how it might impact the rest of my fall.  At this point I still plan run the marathon in December.  Again if you catch these things early enough it can certainly make recovery easier.  I would rather try to run through it but I know better than that.  Hopefully this time next week I will have a better idea of where I sit.  But for now I will use the time to build strength and even let the muscles enjoy the recovery.

    Happy running….

Trey – so sorry to hear that you are experiencing some foot pain. I know this weekend’s race really means a lot to you.

Your attitude and approach is spot on – unfortunately, this is part of our sport. We can back off and be down for a short period of time, or we can choose to foolishly try to “cowboy up” and be on the shelf for quite awhile longer ……

Hang in there, take those anti-inflams, RICE and I’m betting 4 days will get you right. Amazing how much 3-4 days of rest can help.

Best to you Trey – stay positive!

I am feeling better each day. I ran Saturday and feel like I might could today but I will not. I am feeling better each day so I hope I caught it early enough where I will be fine.

Thanks for the good word Joe.
