Are you running Boston next week? For many this is “The Race”. If you are familiar with the history of that race you know why. Is Boston ”The Race” for you? From the time runner’s run their first marathon many of them put Boston at the top of the list of races to run.
Is it because they are supposed to? Is it because other runner’s tell them it is ”The Race”? I have a desire to run Boston and I have a desire to qualify but for me it is not “The Race”. The reason is probably because I have not run the race. I think it is probably the race that has to be experienced. Start with the months of training hard, actually qualifying, training for the downhills, preparing for the whole experience and running the historic course. These are things that I can only imagine, so when I hear others talk about this as “The Race” I just can’t relate. I think when I have the chance to go through the whole experience that will change.
I hope the New York experience lives up to everything I have hoped it will be. The Disney Marathon is a race you can’t explain, you just have to experience it. The Peachtree in Atlanta is like no other.
So what is it about Boston? I hope to find out soon enough? Is it “The Race”? What your “Race.”
Happy running….and good luck in Boston!
