• Dreaming big

I am not a fan of things unexpected.  I am the guy who will drive the route the previous day for an appointment the next day to make sure I know where I am going.  So for the NYC Marathon I have been watching many of the videos others have posted about their experience in New York.

Many of these, not all, but many show the same pictures from mile 20 – 26.  If you have run or seen a marathon you know what it is….the death march.  It is tough to watch and worse to be a part of it.  I finally had to stop watching some of those because is was bringing back those tough thoughts and planting those seeds in my head.  I am determined to not participate in the death march this year.

I don’t want to put a limit on myself for November, I want to dream big and train big.  How many times do we fall into a trap of living up to expectations that we have limited ourselves too?

The most important thing day in and day out is, are we growing?  We will never arrive but are we getting closer and are we growing stronger?  The finish line in November is not really a finish line but another check point of how I am growing.  Keeping this in mind gives me the ability to dream big.  It is not a failure if I fall short and fall on my face, it is just growth.  Keeping this in mind allows me the freedom to dream big.

    Happy running….
