While out on a training run this week I began to think about training for a marathon and the ups and downs that comes with it. It really got me thinking about what your expectations are during the process. I was having such a good day of training it made me think about the bad day from this past weekend.
My training plan is over 800 miles in distance starting in July until November 4th. It really made me think if I was going on a road trip of 800 miles I would be prepared for most anything.
I would want to take my GPS to make sure I was staying on track. (My training plan)
I would want to make sure all the equipment was working well like tires, belts and fluids. (My running shoes and gear)
I would remind myself I might run into traffic along the way and even a detour. I might have to change routes along the way. I might even have to call for assistance. Many things can happen in a journey of 800 miles and not every mile is smooth. The road is long and could be difficult.
When a road trip of 800 miles might have bumps in the road I can assure you marathon training of 800 miles is guaranteed to be the same. It is a long road which is what makes the journey so much fun. Expect the unexpected along the way. Enjoy every mile down the road.
Happy running….
